Poncirus trifoliata ‘Flying Dragon’ is an interesting focal point for a garden or landscape. The small tree has white flowers in spring, tiny to small entire green leaves, half-dollar size orange fruits ( which are bitter tasteing but can be used for a zest), and an eye-catching tangle of twisting torny green branches all winter. This is an underused deciduous conifer that grows to 30 ft by 8 ft wide. This upright tree has a very airy look as the arrangement of needles are vertical initially. Fall color is orange and browns. This cultivar is grafted on Bald cypress so it can tolerate wet conditions without a problem.
