Poncirus trifoliata ‘Flying Dragon’ is an interesting focal point for a garden or landscape. The small tree has white flowers in spring, tiny to small entire green leaves, half-dollar size orange fruits ( which are bitter tasteing but can be used for a zest), and an eye-catching tangle of twisting torny green branches all winter. This specimen was field grown for 4 years and now has been established in a pot for one year. 6 ft by 3 ft, price is $450.

Pond cypress - Debonnair 10-2010

This is an underused deciduous conifer that grows to 30 ft by 8 ft wide. This upright tree has a very airy look as the arrangement of needles are vertical initially. Fall color is orange and browns. This cultivar is grafted on Bald cypress so it can tolerate wet conditions without a problem. It looks great beside a large water feature.This specimen is in a 45 gal pot, 12 ft x 4 ft wide and is priced at $850.

Japanese Umbrella Pine 10-2010

This eye-catching conifer prefers some protection from the afternoon sun. It also requires well-drained soils. Pryamidal in youth, the Japanese Umbrella pine often keeps this shape for many years. The shiny needles are arranged in whorls, lending an exotic look to this tree, with light reflecting off the needles.
This specimen is about 8ft by 6 ft wide, in a 75 gal box ( $75 box deposit required), and is priced at $1300.

‘Ogon’ Dawn Redwood. This yellow form of the Dawn Redwood grows narrower than the species, and not as tall. We have several available in 45 and 75 gal containers. In the ground the tree grows more slowly and has more density. This yellow tree can do well in full sun without burning. Fall color is typical of the species and is an orange –brown. Price ranges from $650 for large specimens in the 45 gal pots and $750 for those in the 75 gal boxes. There is a $75 deposit on all boxes. Call 919-620-0779.

Juniperus communis ‘Gold Cone’ These are super large spiral topiary made from the upright Juniper ‘Gold Cone’. New growth has a slight yellow color in our climate but can be described as a grey –green for most of the year. Slower growing than arborvitate topiary, these topiary require trimming about two times a year – once in the growing season and once in the fall after growth has ceased to provide a trim look all winter. We have three specimens all in 60 gal pots. Price is $850 each. Full sun to mostly sun is best. Junipers are fairly drought tolerant once established. 919-620-0779.

Acer palmatum ‘Viridis’ This particular specimen of the green lace leaf Japanese maple has been grown and pruned into a ‘pagoda’ style. Typically, this form grows into a mound shape unless trained up bamboo for a number of years. This specimen has been in training for at least 8 years and has distinct layers of branches.
